Masan Chrysanthemum Festival 2026: From Busan and Back

Masan’s chrysanthemum festival adds a seaside autumn flower trip to a Busan stay. The 2026 festival is scheduled for October 31–November 8 at three venues in Changwon, including 3·15 Marine Nuri Park. For a day trip, decide how you will reach the terminal and return to Busan before planning your viewing time. The free weekday shuttle ends at 18:00, but the November 4 maritime nakhwa performance starts at 19:00. Staying for that evening programme requires another way back.

These dates do not guarantee peak bloom or that every display is complete. Check weather and organiser updates on your travel day. Venue hours until 22:00 do not mean every performance, stall or transport service runs until then.

Choose daytime flowers or a specific evening event

• First day trip: our recommendation is to explore Venue 1 in daylight, adding another venue only after securing your return travel. You do not need to cover all three.
• Saturday, October 31: the opening ceremony at Venue 1 is scheduled for 19:00, with a fireworks show starting at 19:30. Plan for people leaving together afterward and verify your later return transport.
• Wednesday, November 4: the maritime nakhwa performance (해상 낙화놀이) is scheduled for 19:00 at Venue 1, after the weekday shuttle ends. Arrange both the local transfer and onward travel, or consider an overnight stay.

The official programme image and its descriptive text differ on some finishing times and other details. We list matching start times; use the venue’s latest instructions for the detailed running order. The Busan Fireworks Festival is scheduled for Saturday, November 7. We do not recommend trying to combine Masan’s evening events with Gwangalli’s fireworks on the same night.

From Busan via Sasang and the Seobu Bus Terminal

1. Reach Sasang (사상). From Seomyeon or Haeundae, take Metro Line 2 toward Yangsan (양산). From Busan Station, take Line 1 toward Nopo (노포) to Seomyeon, then change to Line 2 toward Yangsan.
2. Walk to Busan Seobu Bus Terminal (부산서부버스터미널). The subway platform is not the intercity bus platform. Match the terminal name on your map and allow time to buy or collect tickets and locate your departure bay.
3. Look for the destination “마산”. The Seobu terminal’s official listing gives platform 4 and an approximate 50-minute journey. That is terminal to terminal; it excludes traffic delays, waiting and the final transfer to the festival. Recheck the day’s departure display.
4. Continue from Masan Intercity Bus Terminal to Venue 1. For a paid taxi, show “3·15해양누리공원” and confirm the fare basis and permitted drop-off point. For a city bus, search the actual terminal-to-venue route in a map app for that day. We have not identified a free festival shuttle departing directly from this bus terminal.

Masan Station is not Masan Intercity Bus Terminal

If travelling by rail, search KORAIL for your date with “마산” as the arrival station. This guide does not confirm a rail journey duration or last departure. Even when using the station’s weekend shuttle, you must check its connection with your return train separately.

Free shuttle: check the day and the return stop

The diagram includes Masan Station, Odong-dong Culture Square, Happo Waterfront Park and 3·15 Marine Nuri Park. Save the official shuttle guide with stop photographs.

• Venue 1: the listed drop-off is “샤브향 앞” (outside Shabu Hyang), while the return stop toward Masan Station is “해운동성아파트 맞은편” (opposite Haeun Dongseong Apartments). They are different locations.
• Happo Waterfront Park: toward Masan Station, use “IBK기업은행 맞은편” (opposite IBK); toward Venue 1, “IBK기업은행 앞” (in front of IBK). Confirm the direction with staff.

Getting back: work backward from your departure

Plan venue→Masan terminal→Busan Seobu→subway→hotel as separate legs. The approximate 50-minute intercity journey is not your total journey home.

1. On arrival in Masan, ask the counter about that day’s services, last bus and ticket purchase method for “부산서부”. The Masan-origin candidate list checked on Bustago displayed an on-site purchase notice; this guide does not promise an online return booking.
2. Set your time to leave the festival using the chosen bus plus the local transfer, traffic, ticketing and waiting allowance. Avoid relying on the final departure as your only option.
3. For evening events, establish how you will get a taxi or other transfer; do not assume immediate availability. If return transport cannot be secured, shorten the evening visit or arrange accommodation.
4. From Busan Seobu, Line 2 toward Jangsan (장산) serves Seomyeon and Haeundae. For Busan Station, change at Seomyeon to Line 1 toward Dadaepo Beach (다대포해수욕장). Check the metro’s last trains and interchange connection for your travel date.

We verified route and platform guidance and the published shuttle windows. Date-specific last return buses, available seats and extra services remain unconfirmed. We recommend a separate, unhurried day rather than linking an evening festival visit directly to your flight home.

An editorial half-day plan

Allow 2–3 hours locally as a planning suggestion, excluding return transport and actual crowd delays. This is not a field-tested itinerary.

1. On arrival in Masan, verify the return bus first.
2. Explore the flower displays at Venue 1. Save its entrance, information desk and return stop on your map.
3. If time permits, add Happo Waterfront Park or another venue. Choose food using the displayed price, portion size and per-person order conditions; confirm the total before paying.
4. Leave at the time you set and return to the terminal with a margin. Do not miss your transport for the sake of completing a third venue.
