Hwadamsup autumn 2026: booking, monorail and travel from Seoul

Book the garden entry slot first, decide on the monorail second, then arrange the return journey. Hwadamsup's 2026 autumn peak-season booking period is 23 October–15 November. That is an operating period, not a promise of peak leaf colour. The garden is in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, outside central Seoul.

Three products that are easy to confuse

Start with the official seasonal booking notice. A garden ticket does not automatically put you on the train in the photographs.

1. Check names, visitor categories, entry time and ticket delivery before payment.
2. Confirm that your contact details and payment method are supported. We have not completed a purchase with a foreign phone number or card.
3. Save the cancellation terms from the seller you actually use. The inspected NOL World product stated a full refund through the day before the visit, with no refund thereafter; do not substitute the venue's direct-sale rules.
4. Keep your issued ticket and return directions available offline.

The domestic NOL route requires membership according to the venue FAQ. If verification blocks you, contact the seller rather than borrowing another person's account. These booking links carry no MEETORY referral commission.

Choose a section around walking ability

Our planning suggestion: consider 1→2 if you want a train ride followed by a substantial garden walk; consider the loop if the ride matters more and you want to reduce walking. Neither removes the approach to the entrance or queues.

The venue estimates the walking alternative to 1→2 at 40 minutes/1.9km, then roughly 60 minutes from platform 2 to the exit. For 1→3, the walking alternative is about 70 minutes/3.3km, then roughly 40 minutes from platform 3 to the exit. A general garden walk takes around two hours before meals and photography. These are indicative routes, not guaranteed arrival times.

Multi-section tickets do not allow intermediate hop-off and reboarding. Arrive for your booked departure and fold strollers. Platform 1 has advance booking; remaining tickets may appear at on-site machines. Tickets departing platforms 2 and 3 are checked at those platforms. On-site monorail inventory does not imply walk-in garden entry.

Getting there: plan beyond Gonjiam station

Save 화담숲 — 경기 광주시 도척면 도척윗로 278-1. This is Gyeonggi's Gwangju, not Gwangju Metropolitan City in southwest Korea.

The venue's roughly 90-minute estimate for the first two express-bus routes ends at Gonjiam terminal, not the garden gate and not at your hotel. Check current timetables, last services and the return leg before committing to an entry slot. We do not quote an unverified fixed taxi fare or service frequency. The venue estimates another 400m/5–10 minutes on foot from parking to the entrance; a lift can have a queue.

Opening hours: match the actual booking date

The standing guide lists 09:00–18:00, last entry 17:00 and normal Monday closure, with seasonal/weather changes. The booking product showed some autumn Mondays on 5 October; that alone proves neither availability nor opening. Do not assume every autumn Monday is closed.

The venue's October–November notice detail was not displaying usable content when checked. We therefore do not assert special autumn hours. Match the current notice, selected reservation slot and issued ticket; ask the venue at 031-8026-6666 or the seller if they conflict.

Meals, rain and equipment

The garden lists dining facilities including 번지없는주막 beside the pond. Do not plan an unrestricted packed-lunch picnic: outside meals, mats, tripods, drones and alcohol are restricted. There is no wheelchair or stroller rental. Rain does not automatically cancel a visit, while lightning can stop monorail service. Read the official FAQ and your seller's cancellation policy before paying.

If your preferred ticket is unavailable

If garden admission is unavailable, choose another date or a Seoul foliage alternative rather than travelling on the assumption of walk-in entry. If only the monorail is unavailable, assess the group's ability to walk first.
