Choose a riverside picnic, a bicycle outing or a booked cruise rather than assuming every activity is available together. Check weather, permitted picnic areas and the pickup or boarding point before arriving with equipment.

The Han River picnic, explained

Seoul's later notice of 2 September 2026 extends tent use until 22:00 from September. Use only designated tent zones and follow the posted size and open-side rules. The earlier annual page still shows older seasonal hours, so check the current on-site sign before renting. Delivery orders must use designated delivery zones.

Beyond the mat: bikes, cruises, sunsets

The official park length is 8.4 km along the river. For cycling, identify rental and return points and permitted paths; for a cruise, check the route and boarding time of the booked product. Keep walking and cycling paths clear when photographing near Mapo Bridge's south end. Yeouiseo-ro's cherry blossoms behind the National Assembly and the outdoor pool are separate spring and summer options. The 2026 reading park was announced for Saturdays from September 12 to October 31; check each week's programme and rain changes.

Places to consider along your route

Choose the stops that fit your time and interests. This is an editorial selection, not a measured ranking of local visits.

  1. Ramyeon cooker at the riverside CU (한강 라면) — the machine that made Han River ramyeon a national dish — buy inside, cook outside, eat facing the water.
  2. Mulbit Plaza & floating stage (물빛광장·물빛무대) — the fountain plaza by exit 2 that becomes the concert and food-truck hub on event nights.
  3. Mapo Bridge south end — a place to look along the river towards Bamseom. Keep paths clear and choose a photo position for the day's sunset direction and clouds.
  4. Cruise from Yeouido Pier — route, duration and boarding deadline depend on the product. Use the pier and time on your booking; a sightseeing cruise is not the same service as Hangang Bus.
  5. Cycle path towards Banpo — check the actual return distance and rental deadline. Do not assume a fixed 40-minute ride each way; choose a turnaround point for your fitness, pedestrian traffic and breaks. Check Banpo fountain operations separately.
  6. Yeouiseo-ro cherry-blossom road (윤중로) — A spring-blossom walk behind the National Assembly. Check that year’s bloom photos, festival dates and traffic restrictions; no fixed week guarantees full bloom.
  7. Outdoor pool (여의도 야외수영장) — A summer facility. Check that year’s season, closures, fees and rules; do not expect swimming on an autumn park visit.
  8. 63 Building (63빌딩) — The golden tower is a riverside landmark. Aquaplanet 63 and 63 Art ended operation on 30 June 2024; do not include those former attractions as open stops.
  9. Saetgang Ecological Park (샛강생태공원) — A separate ecological-park walk on Yeouido’s southern side. Check entrances, restrictions and return route; it is not automatically a short shortcut from Hangang Park.
  10. Chimaek delivery to a gate number — Choose a designated park delivery zone and confirm the exact meeting point before ordering. A gate number alone may not be sufficient.
