Seoul Forest Guide 2026: Deer Park, Seoul International Garden Show, Cafés & How to Get There

Match your visit to the facility you want: open park paths, the ecology forest and indoor gardens do not share one timetable. For a garden-and-café afternoon, check the garden program first and keep Seongsu as an optional extension.
What Seoul Forest actually is
The main park is free, but individual facilities do not share one timetable. The ecological forest opens 05:30–21:30. Deer-feed sales stopped on 1 January 2020: observe the animals without bringing food or promising a feeding activity. The insect botanical garden opens 10:00–17:00 in March–October and 10:00–16:00 in November–February, closed Mondays. The butterfly garden opens 10:00–17:00 in May–October, closed Mondays, and closes for November–April. The announced 2026 Seoul International Garden Show season at Seoul Forest is 1 May–27 October. For an approximately two-hour visit, choose the garden areas and one facility, allowing time for the walk between them. Confirm any performance separately; the garden season does not guarantee a show on your date.

The garden show, and how to see it
Choose garden areas on the current site map, then check the ecological forest and indoor facilities against their individual hours. Our suggestion is a garden walk, one indoor stop and a café break; shorten it if travelling with children or limited mobility. Seasonal leaf colour and performances are not guaranteed for a particular day.
Places to consider along your route
Choose the stops that fit your time and interests. This is an editorial selection, not a measured ranking of local visits.
- Deer observation path — Observe the deer from the designated path; feed sales ended in 2020. Ecological forest: 05:30–21:30.
- Ginkgo avenue (은행나무숲) — Check recent on-site photos if yellow leaves are your priority. No particular November week guarantees colour; keep the path clear while photographing.
- Garden Show gardens (정원박람회 정원) — the designer and citizen gardens around the lake and lawns, until Oct 27; walk them, do not just photograph them.
- Butterfly house (나비정원) — inside the old water-plant tanks; free, daytime only, closed Mondays.
- Lakeside gardens — Read the on-site labels for each garden's name and design. Viewing a garden is separate from booking a performance.
- Han River footbridge (한강 보행교) — the bridge over the road and rail lines to the river path — sunset on the Han without leaving the park.
- Seoul Forest Theater (서울숲 씨어터) — A separate commercial area between station and park. Check the current operation of the shop or facility you need.
- Understand Avenue (언더스탠드에비뉴) — Choose a café, then map it from the park’s actual exit. Do not enter private residential areas.
- Trimage café row (트리마제) — Travel time to Seongsu cafés and pop-ups varies by venue. Map the route from your park exit to the actual booked shop.
- Seongsu café streets (성수동) — 15 minutes east on foot — warehouse cafés and pop-up stores; the standard pairing for a Seoul Forest afternoon.

| Pair with | Choose one direction: Seongsu cafés/pop-ups, the Hangang path or cafés by Trimage. Check the route and opening from your park exit rather than fitting all into a short stroll. |
Check before you pay
Questions for planning this visit, not allegations against any business.
- Distinguish walking or free areas from paid exhibitions, activities and food. If told a fee is mandatory, ask the venue information desk which service it covers before paying.
- Before renting, confirm return time, extension increments, damage/loss charges and deposit return terms. Obtain a total for the accessories, styling or photos you want and check the item’s condition together at pickup.
