Haneul Park autumn walks: after the festival and cart times

The official 2026 Seoul Silver Grass Festival schedule ended on October 23. Plan a park walk separately from festival activities. Published park hours are 06:00–21:00 in October–December; cart route 1 runs 09:00–19:00 in October–November. Check the last downhill cart and your walking route before staying for sunset.
The festival has ended; plan a park walk afterward
Seoul published October 17–23, 2026, 10:00–21:00, for the 25th Seoul Silver Grass Festival. As checked on October 24, that period has passed; do not include festival performances or lighting in a later visit. Use the regular park and cart timetables and check local restrictions or changes. The end of the festival does not mean the whole park is closed.
What Haneul Park is: a landfill with a view
Nanjido was a landfill from 1978 to 1993. After stabilisation work, World Cup Park opened in May 2002; Haneul is its elevated grassland park, with views toward the Han and Seoul’s mountains. The official park map distinguishes Haneul, Noeul, Nanjicheon and Peace Park. This matters when setting a destination: the cart boarding point at Nanjicheon is not the summit and is not the stadium’s west entrance. On the hill, stay on the marked paths through the silver grass and choose an open lookout rather than trying to visit every structure. An older official notice closed the “Sky Bowl” for safety work; this guide does not assume it has reopened. Current signs and barriers take precedence over an old photograph.
A walk, a cart visit, or an evening: choose your return first
Walking visit: Line 6 World Cup Stadium Station, exit 1, is the starting point shown on the official map. The 2026 festival directions allowed about 40 minutes on foot from World Cup Stadium or Mapo-gu Office Station to Haneul. Treat that as a planning reference, not a guaranteed walking time. Allow additional time for the slope, rests and photographs. Cart visit: use route 1 from Nanjicheon Park to the Haneul summit. The published general fare is ₩2,000 one way or ₩3,000 return; children aged 4–12 pay ₩1,500 or ₩2,200. For September it operates 08:00–20:00; October–November, 09:00–19:00. The last uphill departure is 30 minutes before service ends. Evening visit: a return ticket does not extend operating hours. Confirm the final downhill departure when buying, and descend before it if you need the cart. In October an after-19:00 plan needs a walking return unless a specific extended service is announced. For wheelchairs, pushchairs or assistance, check boarding conditions with the cart office at 010-6702-5460 before travelling. Our suggested allocation: reserve two to three hours for approach, grassland walking and descent; this is an editorial allowance, not a timed route or a promise of short queues.
Map points to use when planning
These places serve different purposes. Keep the hill visit separate from an optional market meal or a second park; they are not ten consecutive stops.
- World Cup Stadium Station, exit 1 (월드컵경기장역 1번 출구) — Line 6, exit 1. Locate the walking approach and the separate Nanjicheon cart stop before setting off.
- Haneul Stairs (하늘계단) — The marked eastern stair route is an ascent, not the whole visit. Check your return route before climbing.
- Maengkkongi electric cart (맹꽁이 전기차) — Route 1 connects Nanjicheon Park and the Haneul summit. Confirm the final downhill departure and keep your return ticket.
- Silver grass field (억새밭) — The main autumn attraction. Use the established paths; flowering and colour depend on conditions, so a festival date cannot guarantee peak colour.
- Wind turbines & lookout decks (풍력발전기·전망데크) — Choose an open viewing deck for the Han and the skyline. Keep away from closed structures and maintenance areas.
- Central viewing bowl (하늘을 담는 그릇) — A 2022 official notice closed this structure for safety inspection and repairs. No reopening was verified in this update; do not plan on climbing it.
- Noeul Park (노을공원) — A separate hill in World Cup Park. It is an alternative outing, not a shortcut back to Haneul’s cart stop.
- Nanji Han River Park (난지한강공원) — A riverside alternative below the hill. Check the crossing and the route to your actual destination before adding it to the day.
- Mangwon Market (망원시장) — An optional meal after returning to the city streets. Search the market entrance from your actual park exit; a fixed 15-minute journey is not assumed.

| Best time | The 2026 festival ended on October 23. You can plan an autumn walk afterward, but flowering, colour and peak conditions depend on weather and the site. Pink muhly or kochia in older photographs are not promised as current plantings. |
| Pair with | For a separate riverside outing, see Yeouido Hangang Park; for a different park visit, see Seoul Forest. Compare other seasonal trips in autumn 2026 hub. These are choices for separate outings, not a timed route between the parks. |
For a first visit, focus on a daytime grassland walk or a cart-assisted outing. Choose open paths and viewpoints rather than expired festival programmes, and leave time for the return. If you need a cart to descend, its last downhill service matters more than the park closing time.
Check before you pay
Questions for planning this visit, not allegations against any business.
- Distinguish walking or free areas from paid exhibitions, activities and food. If told a fee is mandatory, ask the venue information desk which service it covers before paying.
- Before renting, confirm return time, extension increments, damage/loss charges and deposit return terms. Obtain a total for the accessories, styling or photos you want and check the item’s condition together at pickup.

Quick answers
How do I get to Haneul Park from central Seoul?
Line 6 World Cup Stadium Station, exit 1. Walking and cart access are different routes. Cart route 1 starts at Nanjicheon Park, not the stadium’s west entrance. General cart fare: ₩2,000 one way / ₩3,000 return; ages 4–12: ₩1,500 / ₩2,200.
When are the 2026 Seoul Silver Grass Festival dates?
Seoul published October 17–23, 2026, 10:00–21:00, for the 25th Seoul Silver Grass Festival. As checked on October 24, that period has passed; do not include festival performances or lighting in a later visit. Use the regular park and cart timetables and check local restrictions or changes. What time does Haneul Park close?
The published monthly table gives park hours of 06:00–21:00 in October–December. Cart route 1 runs 09:00–19:00 in October–November; the last uphill departure is 30 minutes before service ends. Confirm the last downhill cart when buying a ticket. Cart office: 010-6702-5460.
When is the silver grass at its best?
The 2026 festival ended on October 23. You can plan an autumn walk afterward, but flowering, colour and peak conditions depend on weather and the site. Pink muhly or kochia in older photographs are not promised as current plantings.
Can I skip the stairs?
Yes. Electric cart route 1 runs from Nanjicheon Park to the Haneul summit, so you can avoid the Haneul Stairs. General fare ₩2,000 one way / ₩3,000 return; ages 4–12 ₩1,500 / ₩2,200. It runs 08:00–20:00 in September and 09:00–19:00 in October–November, with the last uphill departure 30 minutes before the end. The cart stop is at Nanjicheon Park, not at the stadium’s west entrance. For wheelchairs or pushchairs, check boarding conditions with the cart office at 010-6702-5460 first.
What else is nearby?
Noeul Park and the Nanji riverside are options for a longer day; Mangwon Market is a separate meal stop. Look up the route from the exit you use. Hongik University Station is not on Line 6, so Hongdae is not simply “two Line 6 stops away.”
