Four Hands filming locations: when to visit Seoul’s Nagwon Instrument Arcade

Its two pianists, played by Song Kang and Lee Jun-young, keep returning to one real place — Nagwon Instrument Arcade in central Seoul, the 1968 building where, in the story, a storeroom piano holds the duet they played as boys. This guide covers what is confirmed and what is only rumour, how to visit the arcade without arriving on a closed day, the hanok lanes next door, and the Daegu campus where the school-gate escape was shot. tvN lists the original run as 29 August–4 October 2026; the series has finished its original broadcast.
Choose your visit day
For instrument shopping, plan around the published weekday and Saturday hours, then confirm your chosen shop. On Sundays and public holidays, make nearby Ikseon-dong or Insadong your main walk unless a shop confirms opening. A nearby café being open does not establish arcade opening.
A filming-location walk with room for a café break
Our editorial suggestion: Nagwon Instrument Arcade → a meal or break in Ikseon-dong → Insadong if you have time. Confirm Sunday shop opening first; otherwise make the neighbourhood walk the main plan. Choose meals by party size, budget and preferred food, with one backup for a full restaurant. This route does not guarantee filming-site access or photography permission.
Ikseon-dong: ordering and busy-day choices · Walking Insadong
With 2–3 hours, choose shops and one neighbourhood
This is an editorial time-budget suggestion, not a timed trial or a bookable tour. If you have a meal reservation or train to catch, set your finish time before leaving.
| 30–45 minutes first | Visit a confirmed-open shop at Nagwon Arcade. Do not assume the drama’s storeroom or piano is publicly accessible. |
|---|---|
| 45–60 minutes for a break | Choose a meal or one café in Ikseon-dong. If full, switch to takeaway or another shop rather than spending the whole visit in queues. |
| Keep the rest flexible | Add Insadong or return to the station depending on your energy. The Daegu campus is not part of this Seoul walk. |
For the return journey, search from your current location to Jongno 3-ga Station (종로3가역) and check the line and direction for your accommodation. Drop a stop if carrying more shopping. On Sundays or public holidays, if no shop confirms opening, make Ikseon-dong and Insadong the main walk instead of requiring access inside the arcade.
Korean phrases to show at the shop
- 오늘 영업하시나요? 사진을 찍어도 되나요? — Are you open today? May I take photographs?
- 전부 얼마인가요? 추가 요금이 있나요? — What is the total? Are there extra charges?
What is confirmed, and what is not
Three things have a named source. The story. In episode 7, aired on 19 September, Choi Jung-yo goes back to a storeroom in Nagwon Arcade and finds the piano he and Kang Bi-o once played together; that comes from the episode summary reported by Sports Donga. The arcade as a location. The Japanese TV-guide site Futabanet named Seoul's Nagwon Instrument Arcade as a filming location on 9 September. The school. Lee Jun-young said at the press event that he and Song Kang shot the school-gate escape at the main gate of Keimyung University's Daemyeong Campus in Daegu, and the university told reporters on 10 September that Four Hands was among about 120 productions filmed on its campuses since 1992. What is not confirmed. Fan posts name a tunnel in Sinchon and other streets, but no broadcaster, production or venue statement supports them, so this guide leaves them out. The piano recital on 22 August at the Seoul Arts Center's Music Plaza was a preview event, not a filming day. And there is no official notice of a marked Four Hands piano inside the arcade: what you will find is the building itself and several hundred working instrument shops.
Visiting Nagwon Arcade: hours, floors and the holiday trap
The arcade stands at 428 Samil-daero in Jongno, 114 metres from exit 5 of Jongno 3-ga Station on Lines 1, 3 and 5. Visit Seoul, the city's official guide, describes a 1968 building raised on pillars, with several hundred music shops on the second and third floors selling and repairing pianos, strings, wind instruments, guitars, amplifiers and audio gear. Published hours are weekdays and Saturdays, 10:00–19:30. Sundays and public holidays are listed as closed, although some shops open on Sundays. Confirm the specific shop before travelling. These are shops, not a set: ask before photographing staff or instruments, and do not play a display piano unless a shopkeeper invites you to. The arcade's phone is 1599-1968 (Korea) and its site is enakwon.com.
Next door: hanok lanes, a free palace, and the Daegu campus
The arcade sits in the middle of old Jongno, so a drama visit becomes a half-day without another subway ride. Ikseon-dong is the first stop: lanes of hanok turned into cafés and restaurants, 123 metres from exit 4 of the same station. Tapgol Park, where the 1919 Declaration of Independence was read, is free and open daily from 9:00 to 18:00 through October. Unhyeongung, the small royal residence by Anguk Station, is free, closed on Mondays except public holidays, and until 29 November stays open to 21:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Insadong is a short walk from the arcade and Changdeokgung is further north. The Daegu extension. Keimyung University's Daemyeong Campus is at 104 Myeongdeok-ro in Nam-gu, Daegu; the university's directions route visitors from Dongdaegu Station by Metro Line 1 to Myeongdeok and then Line 3 to Namsan Station. Visitor access rules have not been confirmed. Check with the university before entering; use only areas explicitly open to visitors, avoid classrooms and never climb the gate.

Check before you pay
Questions for planning this visit, not allegations against any business.
- Separate popup entry, product purchase and restaurant waitlists. Ask the organizer whether a Korean number or identity verification is required; plan without someone else’s account or unofficial guaranteed-entry offers.
- Before food is prepared, confirm whether the price is per plate, person or weight, minimum orders and extras. Match the menu to the order and confirm your party’s total. Keep an itemized receipt.
