N Seoul Tower Guide 2026: Cable Car, Tickets, Best Night View Spots & How to Get There

Published · Updated · 7 min read ·

Choose how to climb Namsan separately from whether to buy observatory admission. The cable car is transport, the indoor observatory is another purchase, and an outdoor viewpoint may be enough for your evening.

Tower, mountain, or both?

  • The free version: the plaza under the tower and the roof terrace with the famous love locks cost nothing — and the skyline view from the terrace is already spectacular. Use the designated love-lock area.
  • Observatory admission is 29,000 won for ages 13+ and 23,000 won for ages 3–12 and 65+. Cable car tickets are separate and sold on site: ages 13+ pay 15,000 won return or 12,000 won one way. A standard adult observatory ticket plus a separately purchased return cable car ticket totals 44,000 won before food. Distinguish the outdoor plaza below the tower from the paid indoor observatory.
  • The mountain: Distinguish pedestrian paths from roads used by buses and follow local walking signs.

Getting up (choose your style)

Cable carReach the lower cable-car terminal separately. Check the actual walk from Myeongdong Exit 3 and allow for ticketing and queues. Standard adult return fare is ₩15,000; observatory admission is separate.
BusThe official guide lists 01A/01B at ₩1,500 per ride, transportation card only. Check your boarding stop and direction, and prepare a compatible card with sufficient balance.
On footWalking is free, but the starting point, slopes, stairs and rest stops change the time needed. Choose it if you want the climb itself; do not make the stairs your default with a stroller or knee concerns. The cable car reduces climbing, but getting to the terminal and queuing still take time. Compare the circular bus from your actual starting point too.
NoteGeneral private cars and taxis cannot drive to the tower entrance. Include the climb or transfer after parking in your plan.
Editorial suggestion: work back from the sunset time on your date, allowing for walking, ticketing and queues. Clouds and fog affect visibility; setting off an hour before sunset does not guarantee arrival in time. The operator warns of potentially longer weekend cable car queues; this is not a live measurement of waiting times.

Check three separate closing times

Indoor observatoryRegular hours: weekdays 10:00–22:30; weekends and public holidays 10:00–23:00. These are not downhill transport hours.
Cable carNormally 10:00–23:00. The operator's FAQ lists ticket-sales cutoffs of 22:30 for return tickets and 22:45 for one-way tickets, potentially earlier in busy conditions. Avoid arriving just before cutoff. Ask about the last downhill service and queue when travelling up.
Namsan OreumiThis free inclined lift reaches the lower cable-car terminal area, not the summit. Normally 09:00–23:00, with Monday maintenance 09:00–14:00. Strong wind or heavy rain may stop service.

Lower-cost transport: the official guide lists circular buses 01A/01B at ₩1,500 per ride, transportation card only. Prepare a compatible card and balance rather than relying on cash. Do not assume a Japanese transport IC card or ordinary credit card works directly; check compatibility with Seoul city buses. The two routes differ, so check your intended return stop as well as the number. Official bus fares and routes

Show the driver: 이 버스가 충무로역에 가나요? — “Does this bus go to Chungmuro Station?” Confirm your return route before boarding. Pair the trip with Myeongdong shopping and tax-refund preparation, or use our free travel-help guide for questions about additional charges.

Choose a restaurant booking by party size and seating type

These restaurants are at the foot of Namsan, not inside the tower. For dinner after the view, allow for the downhill queue as well as the kitchen's last order.

Namsan Sanchaejip: walk in with 1–3 people; online bookings for 4–12

남산산채집 · 서울 중구 소파로 95 1층 (1F). The restaurant’s NAVER booking page directs parties of 1–3 to visit in person and offers online reservations for 4–12. For 13 or more, call 0507-1434-1978; a party of exactly 12 should confirm because the listing also uses an overlapping “12 or more” instruction. Seats are assigned by the restaurant. Arriving 10 minutes or more late triggers automatic cancellation. Changes require cancelling and rebooking, so check the replacement slot first. The NAVER booking page lists 10:30–21:00 with last order at 20:00, but the restaurant website says 10:50–21:00 in its main section and 10:30–20:50 in its footer. Confirm that day’s hours with the restaurant before planning an opening-time or late meal. Walk-in service does not promise an immediate seat.

The restaurant’s visit and booking page directs changes and cancellations to the channel used to book. We found options for 4–12 people in the NAVER interface and selected 12, but the text still says “12 or more by phone”; this is not proof of a confirmed 12-person booking. The deposit amount and cancellation charges remain unverified. Do not assume free cancellation; save the terms shown when applying.

Sanchaizip: a timed booking and a waitlist are different

The CATCHTABLE restaurant page, also available in Japanese, shows “Waitlist” and “Join Remote Waitlist”. This is not a reservation for a specified time. If NAVER has no suitable slot, do not assume CATCHTABLE secures a table for that time. Check the current service status and leave flexibility in your itinerary rather than treating a waitlist call as a fixed seating time.

Before joining, check how notifications arrive, how long the restaurant holds your turn after calling, how to leave the queue and whether any charge applies. We verified the public Japanese page, not completed registration or notification delivery with a Japanese phone number. CATCHTABLE lists +82-2-754-1978 for enquiries; this does not establish Japanese-language phone support.

If the button is disabled: waitlist registration is not always open. A disabled button cannot register your place in the queue. If the current status conflicts with the listed opening hours, confirm that day’s opening and queue service with the restaurant. Do not treat an uncompleted registration or an expected notification as a secured table.

Chotbool1978: hall à la carte is a different product from rooms and courses

촛불1978 · 서울 중구 소파로 95 3층 (3F): the same street address as Sanchaejip, but a different floor. The official Japanese website links to booking. The “[홀] 단품 식사 예약” hall à-la-carte product lists 11:30–21:30, last order 20:00. Its deposit is fully refundable only before 17:00 two days before the visit; the listing warns that refunds afterward are difficult. Contact 0507-1326-1978 for party-size changes, more than six guests or same-day bookings. Room, event and course products have their own terms; neither these conditions nor a window seat are guaranteed for every booking.

Room course: the deposit is returned, then the full meal is paid on site

The “[룸] 코스 식사 예약” room-course listing specifies a ₩50,000 deposit. When you dine, the deposit is returned in full and the entire meal bill is paid on site. Do not budget as if the deposit is automatically deducted from the bill. Full cancellation refunds are available only before 17:00 two days before the visit; the listing warns that refunds afterward are difficult.

  • The slot lasts two hours from the reserved time, except the 20:00 slot ends at 21:30. Do not assume a late arrival extends your slot; contact the restaurant first.
  • For three or more guests, contact the restaurant by phone or NAVER TalkTalk; the maximum is six. Courses are prepared in pairs, with à-la-carte additions to discuss for odd-numbered parties.
  • Rooms are assigned by the restaurant. Outside food, cakes and bouquets are not permitted; fresh-flower decorations are not included in the basic course.

Match the cutlet restaurant and branch

The 101 Beonji Namsan Donkatsu official store list gives the Namsan main branch as 서울 중구 소파로 101, phone 02-777-7929. The main branch’s NAVER listing marks reservations as available, but the inspected page had no online booking product. Call this number to ask about your date, party size and cancellation terms, and obtain a confirmation. “Wonjo” in a name is not a quality ranking; compare portion size, menu price and wait before ordering.

The Korea Tourism Organization listing for Wonjo Namsan Wangdonkatsu gives 서울 중구 소파로 107, phone 02-755-3370, hours 10:00–22:00 and a Tuesday closure. This is a different address from the 101 Beonji main branch. Do not mix listings for similarly named restaurants or plan this stop for Tuesday. Confirm exceptional closures, last orders, booking eligibility for Japanese visitors, deposits and cancellation deadlines with the restaurant. Unpublished cancellation terms do not mean free cancellation.

Before paying: check whether the deposit counts toward the meal, minimum orders per person, extras and the cancellation deadline for your exact product. Ask about ingredients and preparation for allergies. Show staff: 예약금은 식사비에 포함되나요? 늦으면 몇 분까지 기다려 주시나요? — “Does the deposit count toward the meal? How long can you hold our booking if we are late?”

Can visitors from Japan book through NAVER?

NAVER’s foreign-visitor booking guide describes Japanese-language pages and overseas-card prepayment at participating businesses. Restaurants can disable foreign bookings, so a translated page alone is not proof of eligibility. Its nonresident-foreigner flow also requires a NAVER ID without Korean real-name verification; consult the official help for your account if the flow stops.

NAVER separately provides passport-verification guidance for foreigners unable to verify through a Korean mobile phone. Conditions include your own valid original passport and a name and birth date matching your account. Complete any required verification only in NAVER’s official interface; do not send passport images to MEETORY.

What we tested at this restaurant: the Chotbool hall flow reached NAVER login after selecting a party size, date and time. Completion with a Japanese number, passport or card remains untested. If no confirmation appears, save the requested date, party size and point where the process stopped, then contact the restaurant. Show staff: 한국 휴대폰 번호가 없는 일본 관광객도 예약할 수 있나요? 예약 확정과 취소 기한을 문자나 이메일로 받을 수 있나요? — “Can a Japanese tourist without a Korean mobile number book? Can you send confirmation and the cancellation deadline by text or email?”

Make it a half-day

Suggested half-day: eat in Myeongdong, then choose the cable car, circular bus or a walk up Namsan. Decide between free outdoor views and the paid observatory, and arrange the last downhill service or walking return first. Allow for sunset, queues and your energy; do not rely on late-night market food or make dark stairs compulsory.

Getting there

SubwayFor the cable car, check the route from Myeongdong Station to the lower terminal. For the circular bus, locate the actual stop, such as Namsan Yejang transfer parking near Chungmuro Exit 2. Reaching a metro station is not reaching the tower.
AlternativeLine 3/4 Chungmuro Station → Namsan circulation bus
From Incheon AirportTake AREX to Seoul Station, then transfer to Line4 for Myeongdong. Include the station transfer and uphill walk to the cable-car terminal; check the route for your departure terminal and time.
Before you go: use designated locations for love locks. Weather affects visibility and transport; check temperature and wind before choosing clothing. If transport stops, change the itinerary rather than relying on an unsuitable walk down dark paths.

Check before you pay

Questions for planning this visit, not allegations against any business.

  • Check the facilities, date, age band, re-entry and separately sold experiences or priority access. Before paying, verify whether a QR needs exchanging, the collection deadline and identification requirements.
  • Match the seller, venue address, date, party size, cancellation deadline and time zone on the confirmation. Save change/cancellation refund conditions and who handles them; an application receipt is not a confirmed booking.

Quick answers

How much are N Seoul Tower tickets and the cable car?

Observatory admission is 29,000 won for ages 13+ and 23,000 won for ages 3–12 and 65+.

Where do I board the Namsan cable car?

The lower cable-car station is on Sopa-ro. Check the route from Myeongdong Exit 3 or the Namsan Oreumi inclined lift, allowing for slopes and queues. General private cars and taxis cannot drive to the tower entrance. For buses 01A/01B, check the actual stop and direction in the official transport guide, including Namsan Yejang near Chungmuro Exit 2 or Dongguk University.

Cable car or walking up Namsan — which is better?

Walking is free, but the starting point, slopes, stairs and rest stops change the time needed. Choose it if you want the climb itself; do not make the stairs your default with a stroller or knee concerns. The cable car reduces climbing, but getting to the terminal and queuing still take time. What's the best time to go up?

Editorial suggestion: work back from the sunset time on your date, allowing for walking, ticketing and queues. Clouds and fog affect visibility; setting off an hour before sunset does not guarantee arrival in time. The operator warns of potentially longer weekend cable car queues; this is not a live measurement of waiting times.

Can I pay cash on the Namsan circular bus?

The official guide lists 01A/01B as transportation-card-only at ₩1,500 per ride. Prepare a compatible card and balance, and check the return stop and direction.

Can two people book Namsan Sanchaejip online?

The restaurant directs parties of 1–3 to visit in person and offers NAVER bookings for 4–12. Walk-in service does not guarantee an immediate seat. A reservation is automatically cancelled after a delay of 10 minutes or more; changes require cancelling and rebooking.

Can Japanese visitors book Namsan restaurants through NAVER?

NAVER offers foreign-visitor bookings and overseas-card payment at participating businesses, subject to store, product and account conditions. A Japanese-language page is not proof that your booking can be completed. We checked the Chotbool hall flow through the login screen after date/time selection, not completion with a Japanese number, passport or card. Contact the restaurant if you have no confirmation.

Is Sanchaizip’s CATCHTABLE page for a timed reservation?

The inspected Japanese page offers a remote waitlist, separate from NAVER timed bookings. It does not guarantee a table at your preferred time. Before joining, check notifications, the grace period after being called, cancellation steps and charges. Completed registration and notification delivery with a Japanese number remain untested.
