Haedong Yonggungsa stands on the Gijang coast in Busan. The first planning decision is not which photo to take: it is whether the stairs and the trip from your accommodation fit your day. Opening and last entry are different

The closing time does not mean you can arrive at the entrance at 19:20. Visit Busan gives 18:50 as the admission cutoff. The hours are a published schedule, not a guarantee against temporary restrictions. For an early or late visit, confirm access with the temple and plan the return trip first. How to get there from Osiria

Visit Busan’s route starts at Exit 1 of Osiria Station on the Donghae Line. Transfer to bus 139 or express bus 1001, get off at Yonggungsa–National Institute of Fisheries Science, then allow approximately 15 minutes to walk. That walking estimate starts at the bus stop, not at the railway station. Check the direction and next departure in NAVER Map before boarding. From Haeundae or another neighbourhood, calculate the connection from your actual starting point; a single taxi fare or travel-time promise would be misleading.

What to see, in a sensible order

The official destination guide describes the zodiac statues on the approach, the 108 steps, Yongmun Bridge, Daeungbojeon and the sea-facing Haesu Gwaneum statue. Begin with the approach and main courtyard, then decide whether you want the additional steps by the hall or the coastal path. Our suggestion is to take the views in that order so the return climb is part of the plan. The coastal path and sunrise rock are optional; do not block narrow passages for photographs.

Is it suitable for a stroller or limited mobility?

The 108-step approach is a material constraint. Visit Busan lists an accessible toilet, but that does not establish a continuous step-free route from the entrance to every viewpoint. If stairs are difficult, contact the temple about the exact areas you can reach before setting off. A taxi can reduce the transfer burden; it does not prove the interior route is accessible. In wet weather, leave more time and follow closures instead of forcing the complete circuit.

Temple etiquette without invented rules
